I got two pairs of glasses! I'm usually one to go for classic, not stylish. I have always had thin metal frames in a light silver color. Sometimes half frames. And the lenses were as small as possible. I liked the glasses to be unobtrusive. Almost invisible.
Last year I was a little more daring and got frames that were a bit more angular that I'm used to and bronze colored. And I liked them! (I'm wearing them in all the recent posts that have a photo of me.) Now it seems that the style is similar to the types of frames that were super geeky when I got my first glasses in sixth grade. Thick plastic frames and large lenses. Those were the only type our insurance would cover, so my mother had to pay out of pocket to get me nice, thin wire frames.
The glasses that are in style now are also thick plastic, with large lenses. I wasn't sure what I wanted to get. I browsed the store's selection. I was told that my insurance covers any frame in the store, so I asked for the best quality. The man showed me some super brand names. They all had hideous styles. Nothing even to consider.
Then he showed me the next level down. They had more options. The only companies that made thin wire frames weren't such high quality companies. And since insurance covers it all, I wanted something good.
So I went out a little to think about it. I paid attention to what other women and girls wore. Most had the new thick type, and it looked nice on them. I came back to the store and tried on some more and made my decision.
And since my insurance covers two pairs, that's what I got!
At first I felt uncomfortable with the new style, but I think it does look nice on me, so I'm slowly warming up to them.
Psssshhhh. Wow. I'll bet they look great. I can't wait to see you in them.
