April 2008 Photos

They're being "trains" and are "traveling" on these "tracks." :D

The essence of spring!

We went out on a rainy day, and the kids were so happy to wear their raincoats and boots, and carry umbrellas!

Gedalya was eating a piece of watermelon and dropped it. He was going to pick it up (I wouldn't let, but I didn't have a chance to stop him...) but Zusha stepped on it right away and said he was breaking it into little pieces for the birds. Gedalya burst out crying, because he was hoping to still eat that piece.

So kind little Zusha gave him a hug to comfort him! (And then I gave Gedalya another piece of watermelon.)

Lovely spring day, lovely tulips, and two lovely little brothers. What can be more perfect?

Laughing at some private joke. They do that often!

Aren't these pictures just heartwarming? :)

Snails!!

We went out on a fresh, rainy day yesterday. The boys had a great time with their rain coats and boots and umbrellas. :)
And on our way home, we found something really special- SNAILS! The boys couldn't be more excited.

Zusha with his new, prized discovery. He's holding it very "gentle."

Gedalya on the other hand, tried to grab the snail with his whole fist. Zusha had an anxiety fit, which only encouraged Gedalya more. Only after being threatened with not getting to hold the snails at all did Gedalya apologize for trying to crush them and agreed to hold them properly.

Ketselech

On the second day of chol hamoed we were on our way to the park... when we noticed something under our neighbors' front porch. There was a square hole in the otherwise solid wall. It was covered by mesh, and behind it, there were kittens!

At first we thought that the kittens and their mother found their way under the porch from another hole, and they were just sitting there by the "window." So we watched them a bit and then went on. On our way home, we saw the neighbors sitting on their porch, and the kittens were still there. So I mentioned to them, "Do you know you have kittens under your porch?" They asked, "Are they there right now?"

It turns out that a mother cat had given birth there just recently. They had someone come and chase them all out and then cover up the hole with mesh. Apparently, they didn't chase all of them out. Immediately, Hillel went home, got a hammer, and pried the mesh open. He went to check a few times at night, and brought milk to the kittens.
Hopefully, the mother came back and got them all.

Erev Pesach Fun :)

This year Erev Pesach is on Shabbos. So the "adjusted" Erev Pesach was on a Friday. There was SO much cooking to be done! And we had only kashered the kitchen that very morning!
Thankfully, my mother took Zusha out for some fun. He got to escape the madness, and we got a chance to work in peace. (As peacefully as it is possible for Erev Pesach, that is.)

And just in time, the park on 18th Ave had just opened, after over a year of remodeling. They basically plowed down the entire park and rebuilt it from scratch. Everyone waited so long for this. They promised it to be ready much earlier than this.
So my mother took Zusha out to test out the park. We had never been there before, but took some peeks at it while it was being built. Zusha had the time of his life there!

Zusha dominated the steering wheel and refused to let anyone else use it!

He also made friends with a little girl. Here they are peeking at each other from under a slide. :D
