He understands!

At 8 months: We were outside and I was talking to the kids about their mittens (hentchkes in Yiddish.) I said, "Gedalya, you have nice, new hentchkes? Where are your hentchkes?"
And he looked at his mittens! I thought it was a coincidence, until Zusha asked him the same question. While Zusha was speaking, Gedalya was looking at Zusha's face. But when he said, "hentchkes," Gedalya looked at his mittens again!

My Smart Baby

Gedalya is the cutest kid! I can't believe how big and smart he is getting!
One morning I was about to dress Gedalya when Zusha asked for my attention. I told him to wait until I dress Gedalya. To make it less of a boring wait, I pointed to each article of clothing and said, "Adet (dress in Russian) shirt, adet pants," etc, with all of Gedlaya's clothes. Then Gedalya, all of 7 months, started pawing the pile of clothes and saying, "Adet, adet, adet."

Then when Gedalya was 7 1/2 months old, I was playing with Zusha his favorite game,
"Tratata, Tratata, mi vizyom ssaboi kata..."
Anyway, when Zusha got up and went to play something else, Gedalya looked at me and said,
"Kata, tatata." A couple of times. WOW!

Another day, soon after, I was playing with Gedalya and he kept putting a toy in his mouth. I pulled his hand with the toy out of his mouth and said, "Don't put it in your mouth." It happened several times. Then when he put it in his mouth again, I didn't take his hand. I just said, "Don't put it in your mouth," and he took it out!

Seven Months Old! And Teeth #3&4

October 30, 2006. 7 months old.

At seven months old Gedalya got his third and fourth teeth. November 6 and 7, 2006.
He's also on the verge of crawling, but for now he is satisfied with scooting around on his round belly.
And at 7 1/2 months old, Gedalya learned to sit up from lying position! He also tries to stand up, but all he is accomplishing now is to pull up onto his knees. He would be sitting, grab onto furniture and pull himself up to stand on his knees.

Goodbye, Summer! See You Soon! (October 2006 Photos)

Autumn started out beautifully with warm days that are perfect for two frisky children who love the outdoors.

Soon enough came the rains and the jackets and the hats.

And Sukkos, too! We had our very own Sukka for the first time this year. It was in our back yard and a little hard to get to since we don't have direct access. But it was ours! And it was wonderful.

Windy days hint at winter soon to come...

Gedalya's First Food

At 6 months old, Gedalya entered the wonderful world of solid foods. We started him on an apple, scraped freshly straight from the fruit. (Didn't get any photos of that- too busy enjoying the moment!) Then we gave him a piece of apple in his mesh feeder. He really enjoyed!
But it wasn't until Gedalya was 7 1/2 months old that we really started giving him solids on a regular basis.
