July 2009 Photos

~Zusha, 5 years~Gedalya, 3 1/4 years~Adel, 8-9 months~

This face is PRICELESS. Adi, the master of funny faces. :)

I got the kids matching, personalized shirts! Zusha is crazy over guitars at this point in life, so it's perfect all around.

Oh, yes I did!

Adi is thoroughly enjoying her new ride. She thought it was hilarious! I thought it was so cute that she is able to find humor in things already.

We were blowing bubbles and this one landed on the window of a bank. LOL.

What do you think of Adel's new hairstyle? How does she look with sideswept bangs? ;) (Reflection in a bank's window... with a plant inside.)

Heavy machinery. What little boy dreams are made of.

Adi does this funny thing with her tongue. (Old news, new level :D) When she's happy or excited, she sticks her tongue into the corner of her mouth. Funny bunny.

Gedalya. Running with his head turned back 180 degrees. Again. I thought only birds can move their heads so far back!

Our Swimming Trip!

As I promised in a previous post, here are our swimming photos!
We don't have a place for a pool where we live, but I have all the swimming gear for the kids should an unexpected opportunity come up. Annnd, it did! An acquaintance of mine also lives in a two family house with no room for a pool, but a family she knows went to the country for the summer and gave her access to their house, kiddie pool and all. And she invited us to join her one day!
She has three kids:
a girl one year older than Zusha (6)
a boy 1/2 year younger than Gedalya (almost 3)
and a baby boy two months younger than Adel (7 months)

The girl was at day camp, so Adi had to put up with a gang of boys on her own. I took some pictures of my friend's boys just because I can't resist a fresh subject. :)

We arrived and got the pool ready. The kids were giddy with excitement.

Everyone had a wonderful time!

Except Miss Adi. She woke up 15 minutes into swimming and I got her ready for the pool. I put her in... and... "WAAAAAAAH!!!!"
Okay, okay, come on out... sheesh. But she wouldn't even calm down in my arms. She cried and kvetched on and off the entire time. I think it was a combination of the cool water, a new place, and the infamous toofs.

But she did agree to pose for some poolside photos.

I spent $7 on that bathing suit... might as well at least have tangible proof of its use!

In a cozy, cozy robe with her peacock toy... that feels a little better.

And the boys in their reptile robes. (Or Mozilla robes as Hillel calls them ;))

After swimming we had lunch, and then the boys played on the deck.

The following week was a rainy one, and the one after that was in the nine days, so we haven't gone back for an encore yet. But I hope to, very soon!

Little Birdie in the Park

And in true bird fashion... perched on the rocks.

Adi-bits

Last Shabbos we tried to give Adel some solids. She was watching us bite into the challa at the seuda and was chomping on her toy, so I decided to give it a run.
The verdict: She enjoys licking the fruit, or my finger dipped into it, but she pushes anything more substantial out with her tongue. I'm happy with her decision. I was perfectly content giving her only numnums, but I felt I had to offer her solids so she can decide.

Just this morning, I disovered Adi's fourth tooth! Finally, her mouth will be symmetrical with all four of her front teeth in.

Aaaand, she claps! The most adorable thing in the world. (Well, second and third only to Zusha's and Gedalya's first claps. ;)) I can't get it on video because the camera distracts her when it appears on the scene.

Good Morning Poozil Day Camp! Our Next Activity is Arts and Crafts!

It all started with a roll of ribbon with train print on it that my friend Hila sent as part of a summer craft package...
The boys got their hands on it and wanted to make some sort of train craft with it. I suggested that they glue it to a paper and make tracks for it. I pulled out cardboard paper for them, and it just so happened to be a gift box. I stock up on these in January when all the holiday items go for 90% off. I get packs of 3 or 4 gift boxes with covers for a few cents. I usually use them for crafts requiring sturdy paper.

So I gave them that, and then realized... hey, we can assemble the box, and the train will be elevated, like the subways here in NY.

Here is Zusha's masterpiece!

We made the tracks from notched popsicle sticks and a fence from wider sticks.

Trees from these fancy toothpicks I picked up once for our craft box, and a river from jumbo popsicle sticks.

A traffic light for the train... made from beads.

Zusha didn't want to glue his train on. He wanted to leave it so he can make it ride around the tracks.

Here is Gedalya's masterpiece!

The star and pompom are stations. (The beads fell off his traffic light because he couldn't wait for the glue to dry. Oh, well. He didn't mind so I don't, either.)

A staircase from pipecleaners (also from that summer package!)

A tunnel, from construction paper. Gedalya agreed to glue down his train ribbon. (Okay, so these are taxis, but there wasn't enough train ribbon to go around, so I convinced Gedalya that it's a yellow train. :D)

Gedalya's river was made of blue ribbon...

The boys had a great time making this, and are SO proud of their little scenery creation. :)
