Ohai!

Zusha just finished his round of antibiotics, and now poor Gedalya came down with something. Hope it doesn't develop into anything serious.

We blew up two large kiddie pools and had two swim days this week. The boys couldn't be dragged out at all, but little Adi, my bath addict, was wary. She didn't sit down on the first day at all. But the water is up to her hips, so she did get something out of it. The second time she was more enthusiastic.

I went out last night for a walk and saw a baby opossum by the overgrowth at the end of the block. We saw one (fully grown) over two years ago but haven't seen any since. It was a cute treat!

Adi seems to have fallen into a pattern where she falls back asleep if she wakes up crying in middle of the night and I'm not around. That's a big break for me!

I've started ordering cat litter online. The prices are comparable to the in-store ones, and the shipping is free! So cool. Except that last time I got a package, the cardboard box it was in split open, and the shipping box wasn't sealed properly. So the litter spilled all over my outside steps! Gah. Not fun. And it's not like sand. It's more like clay. It clumps when wet and gets sticky. It was a whole ordeal to clean up, and the steps remained slippery for the whole day. Luckily there were no accidents!

Can't believe Shabbos is here again. The first full week of summer vacation is over. We did a lot! I bought a little calendar thingy to plan summer activities and record any unplanned activities that crop up. I did the same thing last year. I wonder if I finished... The school year crept up on me and I had to do a "back-to-school" post pronto. But I don't remember if I went back and chronicled our last week or two of summer. I'll check and then post if I didn't yet!

We had our first trip this week. We went to visit friends whom we haven't seen in half a year... and some of the kids haven't seen each other in a WHOLE YEAR. It was fun to reconnect. It stinks to live so far away from friends!

But these are just bits and snippets. I'll try really hard to do a photo post of the week on Sunday. My resolution is to keep up with my crazy life!

Speaking of resolution, the boys have been very into film cameras lately. They are sort of a novelty to them. If that's not a sign of the times, I don't know what is.

When I was the age of my oldest child, we didn't even have a camera. My family got one when I was about nine. At that point, digital cameras weren't even an imaginary figment in my world. If anyone would describe a digital camera to me, I would discount it as a fantasy tale.
And here, a mere five years after I got my first digital camera, my boys are experiencing the same awe at film cameras as I would have at digital ones had I been exposed to them as a child.

This wonderfully vintage (and fully manual) camera is a relic from my husband's past. He taught me how to use it and I loaded it up with my leftover film from five years ago.

Unfortunately, the release button wasn't working and I couldn't roll the film back into the canister. The gear wasn't being released. So we lost all the pictures we took.

As lovely as this camera is, we couldn't use it. But it really stirred up an interest in the boys.

So I bought them disposable cameras! They used a pair in a park once, and another pair at Zusha's birthday party. The most recent one was a waterproof camera for the pool. How exciting is that!
I'm going to take pictures of the pictures so I can have them on the computer and post them!
