Even though this child refuses to go to the basement when I ask him to get something from there (like his clothes or pajamas) or to clean up from arts and crafts. His reasoning? It's too cold!
(We have no fan or air conditioner in the basement.)
"It's too cold in the basement."
"Gedalya. It's much warmer in the basement than it is here."
"No! Here we have a fan to make it warm. The is no fan in the basement. It's too cold. I'm not going there."
Funny how the "cold" never bothers him when he goes down to do crafts or read books. Hmmm.
On one occasion, we were ready to go outside... except Gedalya didn't have his yarmulka. I told him to get one from the laundry basket in the basement.
"No! It's too COLD!"
Zusha replied, "Oh, stop. You're just making it up."
"THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OXYGEN IN THE BASEMENT!" yelled Gedalya.
"That's not true. There is air," said Zusha.
"THERE IS A LOT OF HYDROGEN! THERE ISN'T ENOUGH OXYGEN. I CAN'T BREATHE HYDROGEN!!"
Sometimes I regret teaching long words to my kids...
But still, they are my favorite boys in the world.
