This Post is About...

*looks around and whispers*
...Pesach.
Yes, I do realize Pesach was almost three moths ago, but on the other hand, it hasn't yet been three months since Pesach!

Think about that one...

There was no real Chol Hamoed on Pesach. Just Thursday. The other 3 days were erev Shabbos, Shabbos, and erev Yom Tov again.
So we grabbed the opportunity on Thursday to do fun stuff. We went to Coney Island.
Waiting at the train station, I gave Zusha my camera to photograph me and Adi. Pretty good, eh?

I know crummy settings like the one above are very stylish with photographers these days, so I guess Zusha is rocking it! And it's only because the popularity of alleyway shots rubbed off on me that I can even stand these photos. A few years ago, I would have deleted them right away, no matter how good the shot was otherwise. But now I have been conditioned to accept it. :)
Regardless, I wanted something more picturesque as well.

We tried.

And tried.

We tried Mama/baby alone, and we tried Mama/baby/kid.

But several factors came into play:
a) The harsh sun casting shadows on faces (and causing squinting)
b) The strong wind causing Adi to keep turning her face here and there
c) The little playground right on the sand near us, luring my photographers (Misters Z and G) away from my camera.

We did get a couple of keepers, though.

There were some men showing off their parrots (offering for kids to hold them for money). We just watched and admired.

It was extremely windy. The light squiggles over the sand in this photo is dry sand being blown over wet sand.

The boys enjoyed getting up close the the water when the waves rolled out, and then running back when the waves came crashing in!

And theeeeen...
Rides!
You can see Gedalya peeking out at me from the basket of the red balloon in the foreground.

Train

Zusha and Gedalya got to be the conductors!

We tried out the fishing game where you get different prizes based on what fish you catch... We ended up with a handful of useless stuffed animals which the boys loved more than life itself for a few days... and now I doubt they know where they are (or if they'll even remember exactly what it was they got. LOL.)

Swingy ride! There is a whole long, long story behind it.

Adi couldn't go on any rides by herself because she is too small. But she saw this SWING. ZOMG. Adi has a serious swing addiction. Of course, she couldn't go on it. When she saw that the boys were riding, she got hysterical. So what choice did I have but to go back on line and this time go with her?
The line was alright... not more than ten or fifteen minutes. But did you ever try waiting that amount of time in a squishy line with a shrieking and convulsing toddler? I thought I'd perish.
But our turn came. And we all got in the swing together. I must admit, I had a great time on it! But at the park, Adi spends no less than 20 minutes on the swings. Here it was more like three.
Cue the tears. The panic attacks. The tantrums. I was barely able to settle the child down.

We went on a couple more rides and then headed home. A long, fun and exhausting day for everyone.

We usually go to the local rides on Chol Hamoed, but this year there were none near us. Which is why we went to Coney Island. But on Friday we went out and noticed two lonesome rides were brought in and set up just outside of the park.

At $2 a pop, we decided to have fun!

What about the other ride? Where are the photos?
The other ride was a BIG, GIANT ... ready for this? SWING! Adi was going into happiness shock. It was constructed like a big see-saw with stadium style seats on each side. Three levels of them. And it swung really high. Adi and I had to sit on the bottom row, but the boys sat on the top and really had a blast! We went time after time. Since I rode along with the kids each time, I couldn't take photos.
A real memorable day!

And talk about absurdly late posts, check out this new one.
