When it arrived, I opened the box and saw:
Isn't that sweet?
Something else that always puts a smile on my face... a cashier in one of the groceries around here always laughs when he sees the kids... whether they are helping me unload the cart onto the counter, or bring me an armload of nosh that I wasn't planning on buying and dump it into the cart... whenever he sees the kids and their antics, he laughs, which makes me smile as well.
And the funniest: there is one worker in a pizza shop who always plays a little trick on the kids. He stands behind the counter with a tall glass display. Then he stretches out his hand and pretends to grab the kid's nose- but there is glass separating them. At first the kid jumps back, but the second and third time the guy does this, the kid just laughs.

These encounters sure counteract the "other type." Such as the woman who entered the line at The Children's Place right in front of me, insisting she was always there, even though I was on line for 15 minutes already and hadn't seen her before at all. And then, 10 minutes later, two of her cronies arrived with an armload of clothes (there must've been over 20 items per person) and got behind her, claiming they were together. I tried to protest, but you can't get far with rude people who act like they belong in a third grade lunchroom. I was hoping the 10 people behind me in line would notice and make the trio get in their place, but for some reason they didn't.
Oh, well.
Good to know there are nice strangers in the world as well.
You're really lucky. We have two nice parks, but one is at least a 20 minute walk (and coming home is uphill the whole way).
ReplyDeleteWe do have Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park & zoo, and Brooklyn Children's Museum close by...but all are by car.
You have so many places to walk all over there!! I'm still pondering our summer adventures, and really thinking of coming regularly to you.

ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to see you more often!
ReplyDeleteThe trips I was referring to in this post were real trips, though... Ceasar's Bay, Prospect Park, etc.
We went about once a week last summer until Adel said, "No more running around, Mama. Save your energy for nesting and labor."
We have two parks near our house, so that's great. But more often than not, we go farther out to other parks.
i've been to C's bay. never to Prospect Park though. we could plan some trips together maybe!
