New Blog Design!

I love playing around with blog designs and HTML codes. I have never learned formally (although one day I might) but I do it by trial and error: change one item and see what happens. Change it back and go alter another element.

My first blog design, which I had for a very long time, I designed from scratch. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of it. I started out by doing a search for fabrics. I chanced upon an online shop full of cute prints and chose this one:

It was a different shade of pink that didn't match my blog, so I tweaked that. I used it as the background.

A while later, I was browsing clothes online and found this!

That gave me a good laugh. :)

The space where the posts appeared was beige, and the accessories (sidebar items, parts of the header) were a deep green, as seen in this blog header:

The background of this header is a scrapbook paper design I found online.

I have a program that generates matching colors for any color you choose, so that's how I came up with the hazy green, pink and beige. (I think it works by keeping the hue on the same setting.)

Here are some other blog headers that went along with the "pink bike" design.

Then something happened to my blog- I changed one element in the template HTML code, and it stopped loading. The blog would start to open ad then just give an error message and crash.
So I just went to a site that I knew about, Cutest Blog on the Block, and found a nice design that I liked.

Then I made headers to match.

This was what the blog looked like:

Now this new design... I wanted something original once again. So I had an idea to use a photo of Adel's closet!

Recognize anything in there, Hila? ;)

I tried to figure things out in the HTML section of my blog, but was too tired. I just went to Cutest Blog on the Block, took their code, and replaced the image with my own. :)
I made the header at scrapblog.com, and here is the result! :D

(Since we are on the HTML topic, I also designed the skin for the Jewish Attachment Parenting forum.) Which is a great forum... I learned so much over there. It's worth a look!

  3. I have to check that forum out. I haven't been doing much for a while though. The kids have been keeping me busy & I switched over to Mac. The learning curve has been quite interesting, but I'll get the hang of it.

Adel is almost fully in 12 months. Some straggling 6-9 undershirts, and even three 3-6 items. But yeah, summer clothes are all 12 and some 18!

  11. Hey, CR, did ya sign up in the end? Post anything?
Karapooz means a chubby little roly poly cute baby in Russian. I liked the sound of the word and the meaning, so there ya go.
    Poozil is a derivative.

(And yes, I do realize this post is over 7 months old.)
