Bless You, Excavator

*

There was a house across the street from us that got torn down a year or so ago. Just yesterday they started loading and carting away the debris.
This morning we woke up to an excavator and a whole host of other cool construction machinery all over the block. Right in front of our house!
The boys sat all morning, watching in quiet awe. Then they went and got their ride-on excavators and hard hats and rode around the house.
While we waited for Zusha's school bus, he watched, mesmerized. The bus couldn't enter our block, so it stopped on the avenue and the bus Rebbe came to our door to bring Zusha to the bus. Zusha loves it when our street is blocked and he walks with the bus Rebbe. Personal escort!

So now it's almost noon, and Gedalya is glued to the window since he woke up. Once in a while he tells me excitedly, "I'll sit here and watch until they finish building the entire house!"

So thank you, dear excavator, for my free time this morning. It was much appreciated. I look forward to many more days of babysitting.

*This is not the actual excavator. This was just a random one parked on our block that gave the boys endless joy two years ago.
