Things have been busybusybusy.
We decided to give Zusha's current cheider a chance since they have a (NORMAL!) new principal and all. I was going to bring him to meet the Rebbi and then make arrangements for transportation (no bus this time, thank you!) ...when we got a phone call from the principal of the cheider we were trying to switch to. Great. I finally prepared myself emotionally to send Zusha back... to be ready to be on the phone with the principal every day if needed to smooth out any problems that come up. And then this.
I am so torn. I do want to switch, but I hyped Zusha up to go back to the old school. And now? He also has friends there... but he is so young that he will forget soon enough and make new friends.
I am so confused now. I feel that the combination of new principal, great new Rebbe and elimination of the
Gah. Can someone just decide for me? When I think of switching Zusha out to an unfamiliar environment, I feel like crying. When I think of leaving him in a place he used to hate and having to plow through all the problems, I feel like crying.
Meanwhile we are learning at home. Not nearly as much as in cheider, but I already see a difference in him. He is eager to read and keeps asking to read just one more page whereas during the school year he'd run away and refuse to read more than half a page for homework.
can you keep both options open? do a trial run of the old cheder and if you see it isn't working out after a week or 2, transfer him.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was fast. I guess you're a fellow night owl. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's actually a good idea. I'm glad I posted. A nice, fresh brain is all that was needed, it seems. :) I doubt either of the chadorim would be too happy, especially the new one if they would agree to take us and then I'd make them wait... but other people's happiness isn't high on my priority list right now.
If you can think of alternatives to taking the bus (I don't drive) you can also suggest. ;)
may I remind you I only have a general idea of where you live and of the 2 chadorim in question....
ReplyDeletetell new principal youll have an answer after yom tov
I'm in the low forties and 16th. Cheider is in the mid fifties and 18th. It's a mile away.
ReplyDeleteThe new cheider is only 1/2 mile and I'd walk there, no problem.
In order to take a city bus I will still have to walk several blocks to it, and it's unreliable, crowded, three kids and a stroller... not so fun or practical.
Adi's calling... see ya tomorrow?
might go to the mall again tomorrow. if I'm back on time I'll make it to the library.
ReplyDeleteI guess transportation wise, new cheder is a lot easier.
