On chol hamoed Pesach I asked Zusha to clean up his room. He answered, "I'll do it on chol hamoed Chanuka!"
I came into the kitchen to discover two huge, robotic Teletubbies drawn on the wall. Zusha tried to blame Gedalya, but when I pointed out to him that Gedalya can't draw Teletubbies, I got a really cute sheepish look from him.
I was opening a bottle of seltzer and it didn't spray. Zusha said, "Oh, wow! Very good Mama. You didn't spill the seltzer. Good job. You opened it so nicely."
Yogurt Squabbles, Part I:
This happened about a year ago. We had only one strawberry yogurt left and a couple of plain ones. Both boys wanted the strawberry, so Zusha had to settle some matters. He knew that fighting was futile and that he'd get better results using his wit. The picture on the plain yogurt is that of a farm with trees.
So Zusha says to Gedalya, "Ohhhh, look! It's tree yogurt! Gedalya wants tree yogurt?" Poor Gedalya got really excited and grabbed it. Upon tasting he made a confused face, but since Zusha said it's tree yogurt it must be really good and special!
Yogurt Squabbles, Part II:
Just recently, we were in the same exact situation. This time it was one container of peach yogurt and one container of plain. Gedalya is not a little toddler anymore and would not fall for the "tree yogurt" trick again. This time, Zusha had to think harder.
"But Gedalya, this is peach yogurt. You see these trees? They are peach trees. There are peaches growing on them!"
That is so funny! I love the expressions on his face. And the brilliance of thinking of how to get what he wants without 'overt' fighting! LOL! He has such a twinkle in his eyes. :)
ReplyDeleteSS is the real take charge girl over here. She loves to order Chedva around...and Chedva (usually) loves to play along. We've really been working on dealing with the whole "Not fair! She got more!" type of silliness.
