The Secrets of the Mirror

I think Adel has uncovered them!

Funny Bird!

The Ironies of Sleep

One day last week the whole house was full of screaming, whining children. (Only one day, you ask? ;))

It was a typical bedtime routine in our home. Finally I gave up on putting Adi to bed the normal way and put her in the swing on super high. The kids were hitting each other over the head with a toy so I took it away. Gedalya ran out of bed to rescue his beloved possession. Zusha, having no one to fight with, fell asleep. Adel fell asleep in her swing. Gedalya thrashed on the floor beside me, demanding his toy back, and fell asleep doing so. Hillel went to lie down as well (it was 17 Tammuz and he was fasting.) Even the hamsters were still asleep!

I couldn't believe my luck. In the span of five minutes, I went from wild child drama llama house to total silence. I was the only person awake in the house!

Well, that lasted for uh, not so long.
Adel awoke in her swing, protesting the unusual sleep conditions. Gedalya turned on the hardwood floor and began to cry in his uncomfortable sleep. The hamsters crawled out of their hideaways and headed up to exercise. Then Hillel got up to get ready to go to shul.

As I carried Gedalya off to bed and assured Adel I'll take her in a moment, I was half waiting for Zusha to awaken and join the party. Surprisingly, he did not. Gedalya went right back to sleep, and I nursed Adel to sleep as well. The hamsters weren't really bothering anyone by being awake. ;)
So, that is the story of the ironies of sleep.

Where am I?

I haven't been posting as often as usual. We've been busy... having fun... working hard... Not more so than usual, but some times I'm able to juggle things better than others. So I guess blogging fell a bit to the wayside.
I guess I am a little busier than usual... the hammies keep us on our toes. Cleaning the cage is a whole extra ordeal. We also had exercise wheel safety issues and had to get two new ones. Then we had to figure out how to make them quieter than a washing machine on spin cycle and all that.

One time Gedalya let Hommy loose. Another time the hamsters had a disagreement over the wheel and got into a scuffle, which resulted in them bumping into the cage door and opening it! B"H I heard the commotion and came to find them standing before the door, stunned. They didn't have a chance to escape yet.

On the kid front... we've been going to parks, library, more parks... grocery shopping, some more different parks, doing crafts and painting.
We haven't gone on any trips yet. I guess I am a little anxious about how to work it around Adel's naps and feedings. What if she gets sleepy while on the bus? I won't be able to put her in the stroller. The first week I figured we'd take it easy and do everyday summery things. But the second week came and went without a trip. And now we are on the third week. My in laws took us to the zoo yesterday! So that was our first trip. But not on our own. I'm already planning for next week. I don't want the summer to slip away and have regrets over plans not carried out.

I have a whole memory card full of photos I haven't had time to upload yet. I just dumped them onto the computer today... Many picturey posts coming soon to a computer near you!

Magnadoodle Magic

Zusha and his good friend, Magnandoodle. Inseparable!

Bat:

This is one of those sanitation trucks that sweep the roads (and lest you get stuck on the same block as one of those sweeties- you will get sprayed and smoked up and full of flying debris. Hence the name the boys gave it: "Bad Garbage Truck." LOL!)

Police car:

Stars:

UPS truck! See the steering wheel on the right?

Cute little Teletubby. :)

And a dinosaur!

A Swingin' Good Time

Just me and my baby bird, enjoying the swing. :)

Whoops... I went too fast! Little Adi is exhibiting her "astronaut exercise" look.

Hillel made up that term for the action that causes the expression above. ^
When Adel was still very new, I'd play with her by holding her under the arms, lifting her slowly and lowering her. But regardless of how slowly and gently I did it, she'd get tensed up, as if I was going too fast, spread her little fingers, make that funny face and grunt. Oh, it was so, so cute. Sometimes I did it to break the colic streak. I'd get a much needed comic relief, and she'd forget to return to her wailing.
I guess I was going too fast for her on the swing here, so she made that delicious face again, after all those months. :D

And some swingy boys, too!

Summer Vacation!

Having lots of fun!
On the first day the sprinklers weren't on, but the boys made do with soil and water from the drinking fountain, and made chocolate milk! :D YUM! :P

We celebrated the first day of vacation with iced cappuccino for everyone!

Adi had the biggest cup.

{crickets chirping}
What?!
Okay, okay. Only I had cappuccino. The boys had chocolate milk in coffee cups. Adel had cappuccino, though.
(Okay, so she's just holding my empty cup. Don't call child protection services just yet. ;))

Annnnd, the first day of sprinklers! How we all missed this.

Wet little Yaya enjoying a persimmon.

Adibaby also got in on the action!

Fun fun FUN!

Gedalya decided to take off his water shoes in middle of the park and walk around barefoot. Zusha ran after him with the shoes!

Funny little wet boys!
