Wordy Baby

Today Adi pushed me out the gate and said, "GO!" And she also lied down on the floor at home next to me and said, "Clean me." This "clean me" business has been going on for a week or more, but I didn't really notice what she has been saying until now. In retrospect, I realized this was it all along.

Ya know, I knew I forgot some words. And these are some of her most prominently used ones, too.

Chee, sounding in between "chee" and "tee" = cheese.
Bah-pa = bamba
Nana or ana or nnna = banana

Together with Beeyup (drink; mentioned in a previous post), the above make up close to 100% of her diet. And when it's finished, she announces, Nee-nee! She also says "nee-nee" when I give her a bag with just a little snack on the bottom. She says it with indignation... like how can I think of giving her a pack of snacks that are almost finished?

Oop = soup. Whenever Adi sees me cooking, she asks for oop.
K-hoo-k-hee = cookie. She says it almost the right way, just adds in some breathy "h"s in there. Cookie is any food she can hold in her hand (as opposed to eating from a plate or a bag.) A slice of fruit, a marshmallow, a piece of chocolate... those are all cookies. :)
Pop! = Lollypop. Not long ago I introduced Yummy Earth naturally colored lollypops to the boys, and of course Adi isn't to be excluded. She quickly learned POP! Once I was on the phone and Adi was begging for a pop. I didn't really pay attention, but heard her in the background. In order to gain my attention, Adi progressed from "pop" to "e-pop." When "e-pop" didn't work, she announced, clear as day, "Lollipop!" I was totally shocked and tried to get her to say it again. But her goal was achieved and she is happily back to plain "pop."

Enough about food.
A couple of months ago, Adi pointed to the sky and said, "Moon." Nice observation, I thought. Probably came from a therapist, because I never taught her "moon." The funny thing was that whenever she said moon and pointed tothe sky, there was no moon out.
Then it was Gedalya's birthday. And we bought balloons. Adi was watching the workers in the store fill up the balloons and exclaimed, "MOOOON!!" Ahhhh... moon is balloon! Funny baby.
And then she added "Kai" to her vocabulary. Sky. Now she exclaims, "Moon! Kai!" A balloon in the sky!

This week Adi brought me her xylophone. I commented how nice it is, and told her to make music on it. (Lala, music in her language.)
Adi gave me a look that said, "How can I play it if you don't give me a stick?!" but she just said, "Hick." Stick.

Towie=toesies. She loves when I ask her about which are toesies and which are mosies. :)
Back= if she wants me to give her something back, or if she wants to give me something back.
Ah-moo=Elmo. I was pretty surprised when Adi saw an Elmo toy and said who it is.
Yeah wet=bath

Arguably the cutest quip is answering, "What?" when someone call her name.
And I can't believe I forgot "Hock!" I guess the very common words are the ones I missed because they blend into the background. Hock has two meanings. One is "hug," which I recorded a while ago on the blog. And the newer one means "look." When it means hug, it's said in a sweet and mild way. When it means look, it is said loud and urgently.

Two modified words: Game is no longer "heim." It is now "neem." And ball is now "bow" as opposed to "ah-boo."

Yeah, but. I guess Adi hears it often and repeats it. She had a "yeah, but" stage recently, and now it's pretty much over. It's replaced with, "You know what?"
All day long it's, "Mama, y'no wut?"
"What?" I reply.
And Adi gives me a lengthy monologue in her own language.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah," she states.

Potty words:
She says pee, kaka, and tobby (diaper). She tells me when she needs to pee. I hope I can train her this summer. She didn't want to sit on the potty last time I tried.

Here's my troublemaker, as a nice end to the post. :)

I had gone downstairs to do laundry, and came up to find Adi sitting on the stoop...
with a sea of farfel all around her.
 Does she look remorseful?
 Not quite.
