Haircut

In May, Adi got her first haircut. I lost my Mommy of the Year award for not blogging about it. Her hair was begging me for help.

Never having been cut, the edges were too fine and all different lengths. Therefore, she often sported the look above.
I couldn't just even out the edges, either, because not all her hair reached her neck. The only solution was to make layers. It felt somewhat daunting, but with the help of some scotch tape (to keep the hair in place and provide an even line) I did it!

First the bath...

and then the cut!

The finished product!

You can't really see what the haircut looks like here, though. Her hair always curls up right when it dries. And I initially made the shorter layer too thin, which caused it to spring up even worse than before! Soon enough I fixed it up, cutting some more hair to the shorter layer.

I think it looked good!

Besides for that wayward wisp, but everyone's gotta have one of those- for character, right? :)

Some more views!

The shorter layer was even with the bangs. I think it was cute!

Well, eventually, as all hair is wont to do, it grew out. I had to trim the bangs to get them out of her eyes, so now they weren't level with the shorter layer. And the thin longer layer got even longer until...

...my poor baby had a shaggy mullet. I wanted to cut it, but I also wanted to grow it out and bring her to a hairdresser so she can get a real style. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore. Her shorter layer reached her neck and I just evened everything out into a bob. I didn't trim the bangs, I want to grow them out and get a reverse bob for her in a couple of months (front longer than the back, angled down.)

I don't actually have a photo of her new cut on the computer right now.

Yeah, it's kind of anti-climatic.

Will you accept some more walker photos as appeasement?

And I'll have the new haircut photos soon! They're not that dramatic, really. Only two of Adel's therapists noticed.
