Around Town

Time for another "Around Town" post, where I feature all kinds of silly, funny and cute things I find outside on our many walks.
This time, there are a couple of "Around the House" photos as well.

Like this ladybug who graced us with its presence. It's sitting on a leaf of our bean plants.

Isn't this adorable? We have some straws that have extra long bendy areas. The kids always make shapes from them before drinking. Hearts, circles, glasses, diamonds... you name it.
One morning I walked into the kitchen to find Gedalya's and Zusha's yogurts being friends. :)

An idea inspired by denture cups, perhaps?

Shtreimel vending machine. Just insert a check for several thousand dollars, select your preferred style and walk away with a new shtreimel!

This little scene with its vibrant colors caught my eye. There is nature and beauty in the city, as long as you keep your mind focused and take a moment to notice it.

Consider My Day Made!

I'm easily pleased these days.
So this really made my day: After I put Adel to sleep, I discovered she had a dirty diaper. I went on to clean her in her sleep, and she didn't wake up!

I know, right?

That, and the fact that Adel's kidneys are beautiful and perfect! Yes, they are. I even have a photo to prove it. :)
(It'll probably appear here on the day of the next specialist appointment, whenever that may be. :P)

And another day maker: we got ice cream for Adel's birthday! Individual gorgeous ice cream cakes. I will take a photo before Yom Tov. :) We wanted to get balloons, but we'd probably fly away with them considering the abnormal winds we had today. (I let go of the stroller once out of curiosity and the wind blew it faster than I could walk! The boys and I had to run alongside, and we all laughed hysterically.) So we will buy the balloons tomorrow.

Oh, and tomorrow is my last day of freedom. After that is Erev Yom Tov again (busybusy), Yom Tov, and the next day the therapies start. Which is when I will become glued to my house for the next forever. Not complaining, though!!

Sukka Tour

Before Sukkos, the boys loved running through and playing around various sukkas that were in the process of being constructed.

Funny yingelech!

As for our sukka, that tour will be coming up soon! Although there isn't much to see in the way of decorations because the rain made almost everything fall down. Oh, well.

Ophthalmologist Baby

Little princess in her throne. :)

Am I that slow at putting up photos, or are Adel's appointments that close together? In any case, I sense a pattern of me posting a picture of one of Adel's previous appointments on the day that we are going to the next one.

So enjoy ophthalmologist baby who today will be a urologist baby and I'd appreciate any tefillos for perfect kidneys!

Mischievous

Our mischievous little Miss.

Can you tell she is related to a certain redheaded boy named Gedalya?

Yes, she's catching raindrops on her little baby tongue.

And she seems quite pleased with herself!

Should I get her these shoes?
Just kidding, just kidding... what's a little acid rain when you get such a pleased little kiddo as a result (to say nothing of the photos!)??

A New Headache

Oy. Where do I begin?

Our test results came in today. They told me 5-6 weeks, and I was anxiously awaiting the results... even made this ticker to count down:

This morning I was actually thinking that it's a blessing that the results will take so long to come in. I've done my part, seen all the specialists, got the ball rolling, set up therapy. Now just this morning I was thinking I can sit back and relax. I can pretend there is nothing wrong. Once the test comes in a month from now, I can once again start worrying and all.

But they came today. All normal. I should be thrilled, right? I'm not. Not at all. I was hoping that it would be chromosomal, because if it's something genetic, I'll have to worry forever over my future kids being affected. I was really, really hoping they'd find something with this test.
Chromosomal tests are finite. They look at the chromosomes, the actual physical chromosomes to see abnormalities. As far as genetic disorders... you have to specify what to look for. You want to test for disorders A, B and C? You have to specify them. If the actual disorder is D, you won't know unless you specify a test for it. And there are a MYRIAD genetic disorders! How will he find the right one to test for? Physical clues help to direct, but... *sigh* I'm beginning to lose hope.

Is there a chance she doesn't have a syndrome of some sort? There is a chance for anything. Her huge delays have to stem from somewhere, be it genetic or neurological. Also her physical features: microcephaly, micrognathia, wide set nipples, EARS (shape and low set), skin tag, absence of reflexes in arms, it all points to SOMETHING. Besides, the geneticist is pretty much convinced it's a syndrome.

So the search goes on. I'm coming to terms with not ever getting a diagnosis, so I won't be disappointed when we will be conducting test after test with no results.

The main thing is that we are taking care of her symptoms and with the right therapy she will reach her potential. Her Special Ed teacher already called and will be coming every Monday and Thursday in the morning.

Now for some comic relief.
For your loling pleasure, here are some Yom Kippur funnies:
The kids were pretty well behaved except two Gedalya episodes. First he peed. Not in the toilet. Not on the floor. Not in his pants. Out. The. Window. Yes, he did!

Then he took Kyolic and dowsed the 25 hour candle with it.
Funny Yaya!
