Let's Talk About My Favorite Redhead

Gedalya is the funniest curly redhead I ever met.
He does this funny thing... he makes up a story as an explanation to why he is doing something- usually something that's ordinary, like eating a certain food.
Here are some of his stories. They are usually one sentence long, but are so funny and imaginative.

*Riding in his grandparents' car* "I wanted to go on the street. I didn't want to go on the sidewalk, but if I go on the street, cars will go on me. That's why I'm going in this car!"

*Eating a cookie* "I wanted to eat something light brown, that's why I'm eating this cookie."
I said, "Oh, you wanted something light brown? So give me back the cookie and I'll give you a mushroom, or cholent, or..." "No, I wanted something light brown, round and hard."

*Bringing a toy to bed with him* "I wanted to take a real katchke to sleep, but there aren't any katchkes with sticks like this one, so I will take a toy one to sleep."

:D

We were outside, walking past a school and Gedalya decided that he will spell "school" for me. I took out my camera to take a video. He was spelling it, (pretty well, I might add!) when a school bus passed by. He was excited to compare his spelling attempt to the actual word. :)

:D

His writing/drawing skills are improving a lot as well. He doesn't have much control over a pen or marker, and can't really hold it properly. I try to model his hand on it, but it slips right back into a fist grip. But lately he has been drawing and writing recognizable things!
Such as:

And this is his artistic rendition of the alphabet. There is a big, wide A in the center (find the long horizontal line first and you'll see it!) and then he filled in the rest of the letters all around.

And to round off this post, I give my computer chair over to this adorable little redhead himself.

Before he delivers his message, I have a few points to make:
-he changed the text color himself
-he doesn't yet have the concept of putting spaces between words
-the phrases he wrote are in Yiddish
-he knows that the English "ch" sound, as in "chair," and the Hebrew "ch" sound as in "ches, chof" are made from the combination of the letters "c" and "h" but as far as he's concerned, the order in which the letters appear is trivial.
-in middle of writing the second phrase, he announced, "I want to make an uppercase T." I watched in disbelief as he correctly pressed and held down the shift key while typing the T. I was even more amused when he said that this is the "shift button." Whether he knew it from before or he read it now, I don't know.

And without further ado, Gedalya would like to wish you all
