We were at The Children's Place.
The kids were running around, as usual. Gedalya wandered over to the pajamas and picked up this piece:

"For Adel."
"Gedalya, these are size 10. They are a little too big for Adel," I replied. Gedalya was not deterred.
"So, when she gets big."
"She won't get that big in a looong, long time. She can probably wear these when she is eight or nine."
"So we'll keep it till then," was Gedalya's response. I tried to dissuade him, "Gedalya dear, we don't have enough place to keep clothes for so many years. When Adel will be nine, we will buy her something else, okay?"
There was nothing special about these pajamas that made Gedalya choose them. It was just an impulse he had to get something nice for his sister.
I made it clear to him that we cannot buy these pajamas. (I could have found a smaller size, but I didn't especially like them, and they were full price.)
So what did this sweet little boy do?
"I'm going to hide them," he announced. And ignoring the fact that there were a dozen or more identical pajamas hanging on the racks before him, Little Gedalya pushed aside a handful of pajamas and hid this special choice right near the wall.
"When Adel will be nine, we will come back and buy these."
This delicious boy

so cute!! :P yum
ReplyDeleteI can't see the picture, but that is way too sweet! what an "awww" movement!
ReplyDeleteThe picture is a big part of the story. The pajamas say, "Peace, Love, Happiness" on them and have all these symbols printed: εïзPeace♥Love☼Happiness☺ :)
ReplyDeleteoh, cute! i will look for it on line
ReplyDeletefound them. they have such cute girl's pj's, why don't they do the same for boys with blue and green?! only skulls and dinosaurs are for boys?!
ReplyDeleteBecause, don't you know, boys aren't peaceful, can't show love and can't express happiness. At least that's what society seems to think. They also can't have fruit or candy on their PJs because it somehow represents the wearer as being sweet, and boys aren't sweet. Yep.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you a little secret which isn't a secret at all... I do buy "girly" pajamas for my boychiks. They have leopard print PJs that they love to pretend they are cheetahs in... PJs with berries... green PJs with monkeys holding peppermint candies. Yeah, it was in the girls' section. Because of the candy I guess. But at least it's peppermint- not as sweet, and more cool. Because it's OK for boys to be cool, but not sweet, right? So I'm safe.
I do find some nice ones amongst boys' PJs- especially for babies and toddlers. For big boys I end up shopping in local robe stores. They are much more tame than TCP and the like.
I hear. I was thinking more of the stripe and dot ones. I am a little pj obsessive. My sisters think I am nuts that I like my kids pjs to match. Hey, it's for me and no one else... (I don't do it often, but...) My kids had really cute fire truck pjs that they just outgrew (and my baby is growing into). Leopard sounds cute, maybe we will do that and they could also be animals. We dont really have a long sleeve/long pants pj season here. It's pretty much either sleepers (cold apts) or shorts. I actually bought them all matching sleeveless this year because it is so HOT here!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a bit of a pajama snob. Someone (who is a commenter here) offered me some some PJs for Adel because she overestimated the size. Although she was giving them to me for $3, and I needed a couple, I only took one. As I said, I'm very particular with PJs. :)
ReplyDeleteThey do have stripes for boys... usually December time. Some are quite cute, actually.
I'm not such a pj snob at 3 dollars a warm pajama I would dress my daughter in any... her costume this year was bought to wear as warm pajamas till the sleepers in Childrens Place went down in price drastically... we only needed one warm one till that happened. they had some cute cotton long one piece ones last season, I bought in 1 size up already too....
